Ed Pien's practice results from the interweaving of Chinese and European cultures and traditions. His work, inhabited by strange characters, invites the viewer to develop a relationship with dreamlike images, that are both deeply personal and the result of cultural understandings. This meshing of influences creates an aesthetic experience that oscillates between fear and revelation, as intimate as it is universal.
