In order to visit the works in the Giverny Capital collection, the Fondation Giverny pour l'art contemporain (hereinafter " the foundation ") must obtain certain personal information about you. You may also share certain personal information with us when you visit our web site, whether you visit the Giverny Capital Collection or not. The purpose of this Privacy Policy is to explain what type of personal information we may keep about you, why we collect it and how we use and protect it. In addition, this policy explains your rights and remedies in relation to your personal information held by us.

We collect personal information that is necessary to provide tours of the Giverny Capital Collection. In addition, for statistical and analytical purposes, we may use information collected through cookies and log files.

Personal information is provided to us voluntarily by individuals who wish to visit the works of the Giverny Capital collection through the website. Other information may be collected via cookies and log files and is specifically addressed in the Use of Cookies section of this policy.

  • Reserve a time to visit the works in the Giverny Capital collection; and

  • To cover the cost of visits to works in the Giverny Capital collection.

Protecting your personal information

 Within the Foundation, access to your personal information is limited to those who need to have access to it in order to carry out visits. These people are bound by confidentiality obligations and are made aware that the confidentiality of personal information held is of the utmost importance.

The foundation has also put in place various physical, technological and administrative security measures such as :

  • Secure access to the Foundation's head office, as well as to certain premises and filing cabinets.

  • Implementing passwords and encrypting certain data. 

The Foundation has also put in place a process for dealing with confidentiality incidents, to ensure a rapid response and limit the incident and its consequences.

Retention of your personal information (location & duration)

Your personal information held by the Foundation is primarily stored in Quebec and Canada. However, in certain situations, it is possible that personal information may be communicated or stored outside the country (for example, if we use an external service provider located outside Canada or who stores its data outside the country). In such cases, the Foundation will ensure that parameters are in place for the third party's use and disclosure of the personal information in order to protect it.   

The Foundation will retain personal information for as long as it is necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, i.e. to allow you to visit the works in the Giverny Capital Collection, or as required or permitted by law. Once we no longer need to retain your personal information, we must dispose of it in a secure manner as required by law, either by destroying it or by anonymizing it (note: anonymization is a way of modifying personal information so that it no longer directly or indirectly identifies the individual).

Right of access: you can check with us whether we hold any information about you and consult the personal information we hold about you.

Right of rectification: if you find that any personal information concerning you is inaccurate, incomplete or equivocal, you may ask us to correct it. You may also ask us to delete personal information that is out of date, or that is not justified by the reasons for which we have added it to your file.

Right to withdraw your consent: At any time, you may withdraw your consent to our collection, use or disclosure of certain of your personal information. However, we must collect, retain and be able to disclose certain personal information in order to provide tours of the Giverny Capital Collection. Also, in some cases, it may not be possible to withdraw your consent due to legal or contractual requirements.
