The Flux and the Puddle, David Altmejd, 2016-2023

David Altmejd, The Flux and the Puddle (detail), 2014. Installation. Courtesy of the artist. Photo: Idra Labrie.

The Flux and the Puddle, a masterful installation by David Altmejd, was displayed for over 8 years in the Gérard-Morisset pavilion of the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec (MNBAQ).

Integrated in 2015 in the Giverny Capital Collection, and loaned since then to the MNBAQ, this installation is described by Altmejd as a recap of the various technics, characters and aesthetics that have run through his protean œuvre for almost twenty years. The immense Plexiglas architecture, inhabited by werewolves, giants, bodybuilders, and materials seemingly in incomplete transformation, exists like “a museum within a museum”.
